Trevor G. McKenzie serves as the Executive Director of Community Habitat Programs Inc., a nonprofit housing and neighborhood revitalization organization established to acquire abandoned, distressed, vacant, or underutilized residential properties and restore them for productive community use through rehabilitation, sale, leasing, or other mission-aligned housing strategies. The organization’s purpose is to reduce neighborhood blight, expand access to safe and habitable housing, stabilize communities, and create long-term community value through nonprofit-led real estate development and public-private partnerships.

Mr. McKenzie brings a strong blend of nonprofit governance experience, knowledge of financial services, mortgage operations leadership, business consulting expertise, and public administration training to his role. His leadership of Community Habitat Programs Inc is supported by a professional background that includes tax consulting, business advisory services, residential and commercial mortgage operations, client relationship management, branch leadership, financial analysis, strategic planning, and regulated service operations.

A key part of Mr. McKenzie’s community development foundation includes his approximately ten years of service on the Board of Habitat for Humanity in Newark, New Jersey, during the 1990 to 2001 period. This board service provided him with direct exposure to nonprofit housing development, community-based property rehabilitation, volunteer-driven construction models, affordable home ownership initiatives, board governance, fundraising support, and the practical challenges of restoring housing for families and neighborhoods in need.

As Founder and Principal Consultant of Think & Profit Consulting Inc., Mr. McKenzie has advised business owners, entrepreneurs, and individual taxpayers on tax preparation, business structure, compliance matters, financial organization, documentation readiness, cash-flow considerations, and practical business planning. This experience strengthens his ability to guide Community Habitat Programs Inc. in financial planning, operational structure, compliance readiness, grant documentation, and sustainable program development.
Mr. McKenzie also has significant mortgage and real estate finance experience. He served as Operations Manager at Cosmopolitan Mortgage Inc., where he managed mortgage operations supporting residential and commercial mortgage sales, coordinated workflow among clients, sales staff, lenders, and related parties, and supported documentation review, transaction follow-up, business development, and customer service in a regulated financial services environment. He also served as Branch Manager at Metropolitan Mortgage, where he managed branch-level mortgage operations, supported residential mortgage sales, supervised administrative functions, and assisted clients through mortgage product and loan process expectations.

His educational background further supports his leadership role. Mr. McKenzie earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Marylhurst University and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and Public Administration from Ohio Wesleyan University. This combination of finance, public administration, and policy-oriented education aligns closely with the mission of Community Habitat Programs Inc., which depends on municipal cooperation, grant and incentive negotiation, property acquisition strategy, disciplined financial review, and community development partnerships.
As CEO, Founder, and Executive Director, Mr. McKenzie is positioned to lead the organization’s development strategy, including building cooperative relationships with cities and municipalities, negotiating grants and tax incentives, identifying property acquisition opportunities, coordinating rehabilitation partnerships, and guiding the reuse of residential properties for sale, leasing, lease-to-own, affordable housing, transitional housing, senior housing, veteran housing, workforce housing, or other community benefit uses. These functions align with the organization’s stated business model of property identification, acquisition, rehabilitation, and occupancy planning.

Mr. McKenzie’s professional strengths include financial analysis, tax advisory services, business development, strategic planning, operations management, client relationship management, regulatory and compliance awareness, process improvement, and nonprofit governance, reflecting his experience in financial documentation, tax compliance, and regulated advisory services.
Through Community Habitat Programs Inc., Mr. McKenzie’s leadership vision is to create a sustainable nonprofit housing redevelopment model that helps municipalities reduce blight, restores neglected homes to safe occupancy, strengthens neighborhoods, and creates practical pathways for families and individuals to access quality housing. His combined background in Habitat for
Humanity board service, finance, mortgage operations, consulting, and public administration provides a strong foundation for guiding the organization from concept development into measurable community impact.
